It's a Big Day when releases its annual Best Places to Live rankings and stories. That happened today, and you can find our 25 Best Places to Live and Best Affordable Places to Live slideshows. This year, we moved to city data instead of metro area data, which further localizes our rankings and allows readers to consider factors that reflect the livability and overall experiences of a given place. It caused quite a bit of reshuffling in the rankings, so check it out.Fun fact: OKC and Huntsville were in a dead heat in the Best Places popularity contest. They're the only two places in the top 25 on all 3 big lists: Best Places to Live, Best Affordable Places to Live and Fastest-Growing Places to Live. Huntsville wins the tiebreaker with its No. 50 spot on the Best Places to Retire ranking (OKC is No. 109). They may not have been on your radar, but you may want to give them a look. Also notable:*There are eight places in the top 25 on both Best Places and Affordable lists.*Five places are in the top 25 on Best Places and Fastest-Growing.*One place (Brownsville, Texas) makes the top 25 on Most Affordable and Fastest-Growing.

Boise, Idaho landed at No. 2 on this year's ranking, earning high marks. It's not just New England - few northern states can be found near the top of the ranking. The first northeast location appearing on the ranking is Buffalo, New York at No. 34. Portland, Maine is the only New England entry in the Top 50, coming in at No. 38. Boston is 88th in the ranking. New England's high cost of living was a big contributor in where and how the region placed in this year's rankings. However, San Francisco is ranked 22th this year, so it is not all about the cost of living. This year, financial stability was top-of-mind for respondents, who were particularly concerned about a city's value and job market. As a result, those categories were assigned more weight, which adversely impacted the New England region as a whole. Nevertheless, according to US News nationwide, Hartford, Connecticut is ranked the No. 1 most expensive city this year, followed closely by New Haven at No. 4, New York City at No. 5, and Boston at No. 9. 7 of the top 25 most expensive places to live were all located in New England after years of state and local inflationary policies.https://lnkd.in/ew-TRYu3https://lnkd.in/ev8hPTuP

Exciting to see Colorado Springs hit number 3! BAM!"U.S. News surveyed 3,500 people nationwide in February to ask in which of the 150 cities they'd most like to live. The result? Respondents rated Colorado Springs as their No. 1 choice, which, along with other desirability index components, helped propel it to No. 3 in the overall Best Places to Live rankings, said Erika Giovanetti, a U.S. News reporter and loans expert. You have the desirability, quality of life, job market and value. And it's really a good balance of all of those things. Desirability, especially getting the top spot for that category, really helped bring Colorado Springs to the top of our rankings this year."https://lnkd.in/gH6kH3ay

Well, Fort Wayne is listed as the happiest place in Indiana, but we're all the way at 122nd nationally. So, this question goes out to all of my Fort Wayne connections. What do you think Fort Wayne could do to get us to one of the top 10 happiest cities in America? What are we lacking that keeps us from being top 10 already? What do we have that other Indiana cities don't?https://lnkd.in/euKnbfpi

Why do I live here in the Pacific Northwest? If you’re thinking about making a move to the Pacific Northwest, save this post!As a native to the area, I have been here for over 40 years. The PNW is magic 🪄 Here are my top 5 reasons to live in Washington State:⛅️ The weather! Our climate is mild compared to everywhere else. And don’t tell anyone, but it doesn’t rain as much as you think…summers are perfect, fall is even better.🌊 The water views are second-to-none. Especially in North Tacoma, where you get Sound and Bay views combined with a peek at Mount Rainier. 🐾 Dog lover? Washington state is considered the most dog friendly state in America. Whether you are country folk, or a city dweller, dogs are accepted everywhere.📍Career opportunities are in abundance. In fact, that is the number one reason I have never moved away. No matter what career field you want to enter into, the job market here offers a multitude of options. From technology, to retail, to coffee, to healthcare, to aerospace, Seattle is considered one of the best cities in America for jobs.🍷 Are you a wine connoisseur? You may be happy to know that Washington is the second highest wine producing state in the country. We have over 792 wineries, you will never be at a lack. A favorite weekend activity is winery, tours in wine tastings in areas like the Columbia Gorge.Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some cons to living in this area. Taxes are high, many people suffer from seasonal affective disorder because of the gray weather, people in general are passive aggressive, and finding an affordable place to live is pretty tough. All that being said, I love living here. Do you live in the Pacific Northwest? What are your top pros and cons of living in WA?#pacificnorthwest #pnwnature #pnwlife #prosandcons #lyneacarverhometeam
