Lennon: Our hunger led us to victory
(Photo: Getty Images)
Brooks Lennon spoke to Apple TV after scoring Atlanta's third goal today:
"From the first minute of the game we showed hunger, here at the Mercedes-Benz (Stadium) in front of a massive crowd, credit to the 17s (supporters) for showing out. We just played our style. We came back to just loving the game of football, that's what (head coach) Gonzalo (Pineda) told us in the locker room before the game, to just go out there and have fun and I think we did that tonight.
"I enjoy playing that inverted winger role, going inside in the pocket. You see the inverted fullback is a common thing in football nowadays so loving the position. I'm having success in it so I just gotta keep my head down and keep working hard and hopefully better things to come.
"It got a little chippy because we aren't happy with the results that we've had the past two times we've played them. They knocked us out of Leagues Cup. So we had a bit of hunger tonight. We wanted to come back and prove to our fans and the league that we're no pushover so it was great to get the three points and climb up the table."

On how he's managing to score: "It's because of my team. You can see my goal today, it's an easy goal. Saba Lobzhanidze created an easy goal for me.
"I'm really happy that I play for this club."
