Skills and the Skill Trees
Skills are ability enhancers, which will give you specific perks during the game. There are three Skill Trees available:
Hide ads
- Fight. This focuses on combat by improving your strength, defense, Experience Gain and recovery speed.
- Gather. This focuses on resource procurement, and some Endurance and Stamina boosts.
- Social. This focuses on Relationship Point increases, sparring, dating and selling item improvement.
Every level you gain, you’re rewarded with one skill point. The maximum level in the game is 99, with 98 Skill Points. To fully upgrade all of the skills, you’d need 139, so it’s impossible to max out the three trees.
In order to unlock a new row below the row you’re currently on (starting from the top), you need to invest a total of 5 Skill Points in that row of that tree. Each skill has an amount that can be invested into it, going from 1 to 5 Skill Points.
Skill Reset
If you wish to reset your skill assignment, you can do so by speaking to Phyllis when she’s at Dr. Xu’s clinic. You’ll be able to select Acupuncture, which will return all of your Skill Points and allowing you to reallocate them. The first time you do this, it will cost you 1000 Gols, and it then increases by 600 Gols each time you have Acupuncture.
You can decrease the cost by improving your relationship with Phyllis (which you will be doing for an achievement).
- Being a Buddy will give you a 10% discount.
- Being a Lover will give you a 20% discount.
- Being Married (so Phyllis is your Wife) will give you a 40% discount.

Skills Worth Investing In
To begin with, it's worth investing in the following Skills:
Fight Tree
- 5 points into Intensive Training*
- 4 points into Strike (not as important to max out)
- 4 points into Guard (not as important to max out)
Gather Tree
- 2 points into Mastery of Axe*
- 2 points into Mastery of Pickaxe*
- 1 point into Lucky Me
- 3 points into Advanced Lumbering*
- 3 points into Advanced Mining*
- 1 point into Fish Encyclopedia (not as important to max out)
- 4 points into Artisan*
Social Tree
- 5 points into Commerce Hot Shot*
- 5 points into Smooth Talk
- 4 points into Business Minds
Only max out what you want to, the ones with Asterisks are the ones I consider the most important.
When you receive the Mini-Drill and Chainsaw (if you work on your relationship with Mint and complete the mission Hot Springs Retreat), go to Phyllis to get Acupuncture, and then modify your skill tree. The Fight and Social Trees can stay as they are, but the Gather Tree can change to:
- 4 points into Mastery of Axe
- 1 point into Lucky Me
- 4 points into Power Up
- 1 point into Lively
- 1 point into Fish Encyclopedia (not as important to max out)
- 4 points into Artisan*
- 4 points into Expert Electrican*
This will make the Mini-Drill and Chainsaw more effective.
